Our sentimental scrapbOOks

We have been looking at objects of our own that are sentimental to us personally. As it is these personal items and true feelings we have for them that will make our zine have that honesty and true warmth.
Here are images of my Great Aunts scrapbooks that she kept in the late 1930s, they are all dedicated to films and film stars as she certainly had a huge sOft spOt for this. We love the layout, imagery and colours of these, and they are becoming a significant inspiration for our zine.

The Studio shoot with Lizzy & Molly!

cOnsumer mOOdbOard

Myself and Anna have been thinking about the consumer we are targeting our zine at. We have come to the conclusion thats its for people like us, the people who we know and are our friends, students doing creative degrees like we are. Although, everyone has some kind of sOft spOt, so there would hopefully be something about our zine that would resonate with people from all backgrounds with different interests.

A bike revival!!

Especially living near Cambridge originally, I have seen some gorgeous bikes from vintage Pashley's, original Raleigh's (which are actually based here in Nottingham) to rusty old ones that have clearly had a hard life. The bike has had a real revival in the past few years with the Cambridge style wicker basket on the front becoming the must have bicycle accessory!
I have a real Soft Spot for old and useful things and I dream of owning a 'Pashley Princess' one day!!

...I also love

New York's Bowery Lane Bicycles ♥

Not to mention this beautiful Vintage Raleigh!!

Vintage Festival at gOOdward

Taking place on the 13th, 14th and 15th of August 2010, this is an event like no other festival I have heard of before.
This is how they describe themselves ... the first of what will be an annual music and fashion led celebration of creative British cool from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s, featuring the leading DJs, bands, collectors, purveyors of vintage clothing and vintage vinyl from each decade, as well as contemporary bands and brands inspired by Britain’s rich creative and cultural heritage. Vintage will explore the musical, design and cultural lineages and explore where they are taking us. Think of Vintage at Goodwood as the new annual Festival of Britain. Whether it’s Swing, Rockabilly, Mod, Soul, Funk, Disco, Ska, Electro, Burlesque, Film or Art & Design that’s your thing, whether you just want to dress up and get an authentic ‘flat top’ and make-over for a day, Vintage at Goodwood will be visual, responsible, aural and sensual, a big family dressing up box, a collectors dream and a joyous creative feast for all ages.

sOft spOt zine is about looking into the past as well as the future and remembering why certain people, trends, or happenings should not be forgotton but still be given recognition and even revived! I can see this being an amazing event ... Thinking of getting my ticket now!
